The Results of our Survey
The results for each question are shown in the table. The score and colour shows the overall balance of attitudes towards each question by assigning points to each answer. There were a total of 36 responses to the survey (out of 100 people) which is actually a really good response rate. Thank you for engaging with this exercise, we will run it again in a few weeks to see how attitudes are changing. I have shown the total results and then broken this down into Parents/Carers and Staff responses - the split in attitudes is very similar for both. Underneath the table you will find a brief comment on the answers to each question that we will be using in our ongoing discussions, kept brief as there is further analysis on the comparison chart. This is then followed by the additional comments made.

Comments in Favour of Ending the Well Child Only Policy.
This whole “Pandemic” is an outrage. The Government and media have an agenda, clearly. What that is, we will probably never know but anyone who doesn’t ask the basic question of why the entire world has been shut down because of a virus that gives the vast majority of people a bit of a cold needs to wake up. There are decorated medical experts around the world trying to speak out but they’re being censored and threatened - why is this? Our children have suffered immensely and every day they miss due to a “runny nose” that would’ve been considered perfectly normal before all this does even more damage to their future prospects. Of course the school has to follow rules but I just hope that you are also researching alternative views that for whatever reason (as I say above) are being blocked from the public; these are not conspiracy theorists but medical professionals who have far more qualifications (and integrity) than Matt Hancock ever will. – Parent View
I will say one more thing, if the Government decide to pursue and agenda of pressuring all children to be vaccinated, please stand against this. – Parent View
I completely understand well child only. However it's very hard if you are a parent having to stay at home and not go into work if they get for instance a cold especially as there may be parents who won't get paid. Luckily I haven't been in that situation yet. A nursery environment is good for children to mix to get used to different germs from households and building their immunity so when the pandemic goes it'll great to allow it. – Parent View
I think that the well child policy does not reflect the low level of risk to children and staff and inevitably disadvantages children and their families. It has been a source of disappointment to me that a nursery that I had been so happy with has put in place a policy so out of kilter with other nurseries in the area and the guidance of schools regarding children with very mild illness. We all, particularly children, need to be able to safely move on with our lives instead of facing further anxiety and disruption which this policy has created. – Parent View
Your insistence of having a well child policy has caused unnecessary stress during an already challenging time, both for us as parents, and your staff having to enforce it. Any of the justification given by Chris does not hold water or make sense to me. It has been unsettling and confusing for our child. Every other parent I have spoken to who have children at other nurseries thought it was ridiculous and it has seriously made us consider looking elsewhere for our childcare provision which is such a shame, because our child loves coming to Greenway nursery and the staff are absolutely brilliant. – Parent View
I think if the children have a runny nose/usual common cold and still playing/being their usual selves then they should be able to come and play with their friends and build up their immune system. I would like to see the high cleaning regime to be continued after restrictions lifted cause this isn't a negative and can only be good. Children still get to play in the garden and build up their immune system. – Parent View

Comments in Favour of Keeping the Well Child Only Policy.
The nursery is handling it very well. I feel we are well informed and children and staff are protected. – Parent View
I can still see ill, coughing children coming to the nursery, when queuing for morning drop off. It’s very frustrating, that some parents still think, it’s ok to bring unwell child into the setting. It’s shame this policy “well child only” is not enforced more, and that some parents don’t respect it. Our family would like to thank all of you in Greenway for your hard work. We really appreciate it! – Parent View
Very much appreciate the careful approach, particularly as it has gone on so long now. We’ve all had enough of covid and lockdowns but the UK measures seem to be helping and so it is worthwhile. Thank you all. – Parent View
As more people become vaccinated, confidence in returning to normality grows but we only have to look at the situation in India to know that we are a way off lifting the restrictions yet and that they are there for a good reason. It is refreshing to see the nursery engaging the views of its staff and parents to ensure everyone’s situation can be heard and considered. – Parent View
I think you have handled it all perfectly! – Parent View
I think it goes to show how well the “well only child policy" has gone, as we have had no covid in the nursery (touching wood). I know this does have an impact on some parents but I am so very thankful this policy still stands, so we can keep our own families safe too. Most families are very understanding I think it’s only a minority that aren’t. – Staff View
I trust you make the best choices when comes to keep everyone safe and healthy. I would like to see the safety measures in place until everyone gets vaccinated. – Parent View
As a member of staff I feel really fortunate to be working within a setting with such robust policies in keeping us safe throughout the Coronavirus pandemic. Nurseries within the media have not been highlighted or supported enough and I feel as though the support from the setting directors and staff has made me feel confident to carry on working and caring for children, something which I love to do. We are a larger setting than most which makes our risks higher but the outcomes for children greater. – Staff View
These years are so important for our children within Early Years and without this policy of 'well child only' so many children would have missed out on thriving and developing vital skills they need for their future. Although, I understand sometimes it is an inconvenience for some families to have to be sent home if they are poorly and miss out on potentially a couple of days to weeks of nursery. This is better then a full closure and potential for no nursery for significant time. We have to look at the bigger picture, which sometimes is not clear to some but I know the measures and steps that have been actioned and taken by our directors, was and is imperative. I personally would not have changed anything. I am forever grateful for all the support within the organisation in managing the coronavirus pandemic, a situation no one ever thought would happen, and the ability to keep working and helping to make a difference in the lives of our little people! :) – Staff View
I would not have managed as well as I have throughout the past year without the measures taken and the policies implemented to keep our team and children safe. – Staff View
Our comments remain the same as before. We are glad of the extra caution, understand it’s purpose and have confidence that the nursery will review this regularly and lift restrictions when it’s safe and sensible to do it. – Parent View
I think what the nursery has put in place is brilliant. It’s in line with the current government guidelines. It is frustrating when your child has the sniffles or a slight cough and not being allowed in BUT considering the circumstances it’s understandable. It won’t be forever either. Keep up the fantastic work! – Parent View
I am fine with the well only child policy and for measures to be lifted when safe to do so. I would be fine if the nursery decides to extend the well only children policy into the future. We’ve never gone so long without catching a cold! – Parent View
