Aims, Objectives & Policies
Our basic aim is to provide a setting in which young children can feel confident, happy, secure and content as they learn through play. We achieve this by creating an attractive and stimulating environment where members of staff are approachable and welcoming, where parents and their views are valued, where the best possible early years provision is made available, and where children of all needs and abilities are welcomed and given complete access to the full provision of the nursery. Moreover, it is our belief that a child’s year in Reception class (at Primary or Infant School) is an extremely important year in his or her academic life, so one of the Nursery’s objectives is, to the best of our ability, to prepare the children for their Reception Year; we do this by bolstering self-esteem and by fostering independence and self-confidence. Ofsted in their report on Greenway Nursery considered that this objective had demonstrably been achieved; phrases in the Report include “they (the children) are well prepared for the eventual move to school” and “children develop the skills and attitudes required for the next stage in their learning”.
