We are open 7:30- 18:00 Monday to Friday, term time and we also offer Holiday Club.
Please see the Rainbow Club tab for information about wrap around care.
For Nursery Children you have the choice of
Breakfast session 7:30 - 9:00 ( Breakfast provided)
Morning session 9:00- 12:00
Lunch session 12:00 - 12:30 (please see lunch tab for options)
Afternoon session 12:30- 15:30
Late session 15:30-18:00 ( Teatime snack provided )
GNRC offers education for nursery children aged between 2 years and the date at which they attend Infant School, and the Rainbow club provides wrap around childcare for nursery and for primary aged children. It is an independent body, registered with Ofsted (EY 547561) to have up to 60 children per session, and registered with West Sussex County Council to provide funded attendance to 2 year olds, and to 3 & 4 year old children up to 30 hours per week depending on eligibility.
Our provision consists of a single storey building, some 22 metres long by 16 metres deep, situated on the edge of the Academy playing fields, and containing four carpeted classrooms, an entrance lobby, a central hall, and two separate toilet areas. Because the nursery is sited on the campus of Greenway Junior Academy, security is good; the outside play area is completely fenced in, thus adding to the general safety and security of GNRC, and is fully equipped with appropriate play equipment and resources. The building and enclosed garden, which are fully accessible to wheelchairs, are used exclusively by the GNRC children (for further information regarding Rainbow club please see the relevant tab above).
We use Tapestry to help us to manage all of our Nursery children's performance. It is an online learning journal. This system is hosted in the UK on secure servers. These servers conform to very high environmental standards and are proactively managed 24 hours a day. Each Tapestry account has its own database and the code itself is developed using hack-resistant techniques. We will now, with the use of iPads/tablets, be able to instantly produce the information we require to support each child. Each observation we make will be done directly onto the mobile app and linked into your child’s personal profile. These observations can include notes, photographs and EYFS assessments, characteristics of learning and videos. They can be enhanced by comments from other staff and parents, and each page appears in a pleasing and coherent way. You will be able to view the complete set of observations as a learning journey, flipping through your single child's observation pages, in time-order, or filtering in flexible ways to access your favourite records. Bookmark your favourites for quick access.
